Grafitti Breakthrough
Wednesday 27 November 2002

Grafitti along the East Hills line could be a thing of the past thanks to many years of persistence from Clr. Max Parker. In 1999, Clr. Parker initiated a Notice of Motion for the Council to set up a team and task force to investigate the best means for grafitti removal in the local area.

In the first instance, a team of Council employed people undertook a trial on removal and prosecution of grafitti in Panania, Southern Revesby, and within North Ward.

"This proved to be highly successful, and as result, Council has now decided to employ two full-time teams - one for the North and one for the South of Bankstown. The southern team will service Padstow - Revesby - Panania - East Hills on both sides of the line."

Clr. Parker said "The total cost of the funding is approximately $850, 000 per annum. This is a small price to pay for a much improved place to live in, with much less of this nuisance."
