Alford's Point Bridge Needs Urgent Widening
Wednesday 27 November 2002

The single lane Alford's Point Bridge and approaches has become a traffic hazard for many local people, as the volume of traffic rapidly increases.

Clr. Max Parker has been arguing for the duplication of the bridge and approaches for a number of years, and now plans to get the local Labor Party controlled Bankstown City Council to help get the support of the State Labor Government.

"At last night's Bankstown Council Meeting I placed a motion on notice for the Council to write to the local State members for Menai, Georges River and East Hillls, and the Minister for Transport, Hon. Carl Scully to urgently act to ensure that work commences immediately."

The motion Councillor Parker put is as follows:

“That Bankstown City Council write to the relevant State Members of Parliament in Menai, Georges River and East Hills and the The Hon. Carl Scully MP, Minister for Transport to hasten the duplication of the Alfords Point Bridge and the approaches to the bridge.”
