The proposed heating of Revesby Swimming Centre's 50 metre pool has been stonewalled by local ALP Councillors, much to the outrage of many local residents, and Clr. Max Parker.
"I often wonder what petty reasons would drive the local ALP, so-called representatives of the local people to deprive these people of a much needed community resource for both South and West Ward residents."
"We do not need one huge, centralised swimming facility, that many people in areas such as South and West Ward will find it difficult to access. The current smaller, but more accessible pools are the most appropriate for our large geographical area."
Local ALP Councillors have indicated that they would prefer to support a centralised, mega swimming centre, at a location near The Crest, Chester Hill.
"For a kid, say from Padstow, getting to Chester Hill by our inadequate local system would be near prohibitive for him or her in terms of time and safety.
"A central point of my re-election policy was the heating of Revesby Pool, and I know that many people who voted for me have said that this was a very important issue to them."

"One can only speculate what within the last Council term, there was huge rate payer funded white elephants: Paul Keating Park and the Bankstown City Plaza (both in East Ward), that this could be deja vu - another ALP monument in the making."
Clr. Parker will be writing to local ALP MP for East Hills, Mr Allan Ashton, and the NSW Minister for Sport and Recreation appealing for their intervention.
"I only hope Allan will be able to support the local residents in finally getting something for their ratepayer dollar in their local precint."
