Clr. Max Parker will move a motion at the next meeting of council that a working party be set up to beautify Bankstown.
The motion is that a working party "be established consisting of councillors, officers, representatives of private schools and other iniatives as agreed to address and advise on the streetscape issues such as graffiti and cleanliness on private and public property and beautification/ maintenance issues."
This is in the middle of Revesby shopping centre, across the road from Woolworths.
"The community needs to pull together and make a concerted effort to combat the problems in the area. The amount of graffiti around the place has quadrupled over the last few months and there isn't enough street sweeping being done, so the whole city is starting to look untidy."
"Our job is to make the city look nice but we need the community to come on board. Tougher penalties needed to be introduced against graffiti"
