Clr. Max Parker has been elected the Chairman of Bankstown City Council's Traffic Committee.
The Traffic Committee representative is appointed by the Mayor. The Mayor's representative and has one vote, with the RTA, Police, Bus company and others having one vote each too.
Each State Member has a representative also. Changes are appointed and not elected.
This committee is not open to the public. It may invite people to address the committee.
The position is an opportunity to continue genuine grassroots work for the community of South Ward.
"It's never a favourite position for Councillors, because it (traffic) is a no-win issue. If something is not done, many people complain. Then is something is done, the other half of the people complain. Clr. Parker commented.
