Sunday 12 September 1999
Clr. Max Parker has been returned in the South Ward, with a similar vote to 1995 - about one in four people.
The vote for Clr. Parker is around 23% (not final), versus 26% in 1995.
The result is a vindication of Clr. Parkers true independence against the party machines. The ALP have tried every trick in the book leading up to this election.
"I would like to thank all my voters who re-elected me, and my helpers on the day. I can assure them (and the ALP) that I will be fighting to achieve my positive policy agenda and carry through neccesary programs. The ALP will be seeing a lot of me, for a long time to come."
Clr. Parker commented.
The approximate count at Saturday night recorded:
| Group | Votes | Percentage |
| A: Carver | 1904 | 10.16% |
| B: ALP | 7741 | 41.32% |
| C: Parker | 4327 | 23.09% |
| D: Liberal | 1968 | 10.50% |
| E: Hart | 215 | 1.14% |
| F: One Nation | 1975 | 10.54% |

The ALP, then Max Parker will be elected on these figures, with a contest between One Nation and Peter Carver for the third spot.
